The main features of the rheumatic conditions are represented by inflammations, followed by a failure of one of the supporting structures of the body. Those most affected by rheumatic diseases are the joints, ligaments, bones, tendons and muscles that become painful, swollen and stiff. Some of the 100 types of rheumatic diseases can affect other organs.
Some people generically call “arthritis” all types of rheumatic problems. But unlike the other conditions, only attacks the joints arthritis. There are some rheumatic diseases that are considered disorders of connective tissue, while others are seen as auto immune.
Some rheumatic diseases are:
- Rheumatoid arthritis is a disease in which the synovium is swollen and very painful. The joint pains, become rigid and are severely damaged or out of use. The joints of the hands of the feet are the hardest hit. Rheumatoid arthritis is a symmetrical disease, which affects 1% of the population, only in the U.S.
- Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis is the most frequent arthritis that affects children. Most symptoms are common to adults, but others are added, such as rash and fever
- Osteoarthritis affects the cartilage and lead them away. Cause pain, stiffness, and if it touches the spine, off the knees and hips, too. It is the most common form of arthritis and affects more than 21 million Americans
- The systemic lupus erythematosus is an auto immune. Tissues and healthy cells are damaged by the body’s own means of protection against infection. The inflammation caused by this disease attacks the skin, joints, kidneys, brain, blood vessels, heart and lungs.
* – Spondyloarthopathies that most attacks the spine, like any common form of ankylosing spondylitis. The spine is followed by the shoulders, hips and knees, then the inflammation extends on tendons and ligaments, which become painful and stiff. That mainly affects young people. Another example is spondyloarthopathy Reiter’s syndrome, an infection of the intestine, the lower urinary tract and causes skin rashes, eye problems and mouth sores.
* – Fibromylagia has a chronic character and gives the joints and tissues to determine the bones to move, pain, stiffness, and localized sensitivity of muscles and tendons. It mainly affects the spine, shoulders, hips and neck and makes the patient sleep and tiredness.
- Systematic sclerosis or scleroderma affects the skin, joints and blood vessels, and sometimes internal organs. It is caused by an increase of more collagen inside the body.
- Rheumatic Polymylagia is very painful and causes rigidity of the shoulders, hips, neck and lower back, especially in the morning. Affecting tendons, muscles, ligaments and everything that surrounds the joints. Over time, can lead to giant cell arthritis, a disorder that affects the arteries and leads to weight loss, fever, swelling and weakness.
- Gout is a type of arthritis generated by the deposition of uric acid crystals in joints. Its main symptoms inflammation, swelling and pain almost unbearable
- Psoriatic arthritis affects only people with psoriasis. Affecting mainly the fingers and toes’ articulations and changes the look of nails. If it touches the spine, back pain is added to the symptoms
- Infectious arthritis is caused by viruses or bacteria. Two examples are the Parvovirus arthritis and gonococcal arthritis. Symptoms of arthritis often appear in Lyme disease. This disease is caused by bacterial infection that occurs after the bite of certain ticks.
An early diagnosis is vital tExercise and arthritis are two opposite ends of the spectrum. Arthritis does not like exercise and if you can find a form of exercise that you can only find on the boards of the comfort that you are causing so much pain.
I know there are times in a day when their arthritis pains and that is not a good time to consider the exercise. However, there are times on the day that you know are the best, it would be a great time to start some exercises implmenting.
WARNING
Never start an exercise program for arthritis without consulting your doctor or health care provider.
The 3 main components to exercise and arthritis are:
Flexibility (range of motion)
Strength (resistance)
Cardiovascular (resistance)
I’m sure you’re doctor would agree that flexibility, cardiovascular and strength would be beneficial for your records. But first talk to them that the exercise could recommend a therapist to help combat arthritis by very specific exercises.
Flexibility is often referred to as range of motion (ROM). Arthritis and wants to freeze his joints will not move. The less you move their joints with arthritis can take over your body. If you want to beat arthritis in his own game, and then start a program of flexibility.
Mornings are a great time to start range of motion exercises. Something as simple as pulling the knees to your chest can increase your chances of getting out of bed without too much pain from arthritis.
This same movement will also help prepare your hips for a weight daily. If the knees and hips are really listening to you, a simple leg lift in bed will do wonders to increase your blood flow before the feet hit the floor.
Any type of bending and stretching is a good exercise for arthritis. Key point to remember is to hold his leg and did not bounce up and down. It is the slow process of pulling and stretching the muscles that make arthritis crazy.
Before making any kind of stretching exercises is the essential first step. Prepares muscles for the activities they intend to do. Daily stretching is more beneficial, but does not believe that flexibility, you can substitute with other forms of exercise. You need em both.
Strengthening exercises are good ways to build the muscles around the joints and increase blood flow throughout your body. Is that the blood flow that really drives crazy arthritis.
Resistance exercises are what you want. Bicycling is a good resistance to exercise. Constant against which to push the pedal with your legs start to build the muscles around your knee joints and many other places. If your knees are bothering you and you have access to a stationary bike, try this.
Remove the seat, sit on the floor behind the pedals and the traffic to begin with only his arms and hands. This is a dual process that increases the resistance and help build cardiovascular.
The key advantage of a stationary bicycle or a bicycle, is the fact that you will be able to increase your blood flow to each set of bodyand and build strength in your arms or legs. Lifting weights is an obvious choice for a resistance exercise, however there are other ways.
For example, sitting in a chair with your legs bent. Start lifting your legs until your leg is fully extended. Using only gravity to help build the muscles around the knees. If belt in just 5 pounds and do the same thing that has really had a good workout. We call this leg extensions and you do not need a gym to do that.
Another good exercise for your arms to the resistance that is directly in front of them and you just bend your elbow so your hand back to your shoulder works wonders. Even lift his arms up and down over your head will shoulder full stretch and strengthen. You can add more resistance by holding a dumb bell 5 pounds when there is no pain associated with flexion of the shoulder and elbow.
Cardiovascular exercises are very beneficial for arthritis pain are: walking, biking, swimming. We like to do a lot of walking in the water with the athletes that come out of surgery and progress along them for finally walking and biking. They build strength and endurance. As you know, cardio exercises are also beneficial for the circulatory system (heart / lungs).
Located behind the hill is the city that I love to climb. No matter how much my back and knees hurt, by the time I walk up that thing in 5 minutes of my body and stop harming the blood is flowing rapidly. Is the flow of blood that really helps stop the pain and arthritis common for me. Also included in my regular food supplements that target the symptoms of arthritis and pain.
As we discussed earlier, walking in a swimming pool is also a great way to reduce the pressure on all members with their weight. Walking in the pool that are strengthening large muscle groups around your hips, knees and ankles. The upper body is also moving quickly to help walk into the water faster.
Personal favorite exercises for arthritis include:
* Walking on flat surfaces
* Walks hills
* Riding my bike when my back does not hurt and the outside temperature
is not cold.
* Walking in pools
* After the children (grandchildren) in the backyard
There are a lot of different things you can do that does not require the purchase of a membership in the local exercise club. Exercise and arthritis in my humble opinion is a mentality, and if you get into the habit of doing some sort of exercise daily will help reduce the pain of arthritis. When you have pain, use some other part of your body to increase blood flow, heart rate and lungs.
You’ll be surprised how well it will help reduce the pain.
Hope you have a pain week.o avoid serious damage.
* – Tendinitis is, as its name indicates, a disorder of the tendons. That swollen, painful and extremely sensitive and produce restriction of movement
- Bursitis is an inflammation of the bursae, which generates pain and sensitivity, and limits the movements of the close linkage
- Polymyositis swells and weakens the muscle. It can cause disability, if it affects the entire body.
